Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

As AXAEM begins deployments, this page will grow with contributions from the community.

Question:  Is there a cost involved in deploying AXAEM?

Answer: The application code for AXAEM is available at no charge.  AXAEM requires a license to APPX, the environment on which it operates.  A 1 User license to APPX is available at no charge.  Whenever an application is deployed, costs are incurred for planning, systems design, customization, training, installation, and deployment.  Depending on your staff, some or all of these could be performed by them.  APPX Software supports AXAEM and will be pleased to work with you to provide the services that you need.

Question: Who developed AXAEM?

Answer: The State of Utah Archives developed the base application that was used to create AXAEM.  In September, 2009, the State of Utah authorized APPX Software, Inc. to bring the application to market as an Open Source offering to allow Archives to benefit from their development, and bring the expertise of a community of users to improve AXAEM.  AXAEM is planned for initial general release in Fall, 2010.  At that time, the AXAEM community will have access to the initial version of the open source code and will begin to gain experience with it.
